Neil Newbon broke through to a global audience as the voice and motion?capture actor behind the wildly popular Astarion Ancunin in Larian Studio’s highly successful videogame Baldur's Gate 3. His layered, charismatic performance helped make Astarion one of the game's most talked?about companions and earned Newbon industry recognition, including the 2023 Game Awards for Best Performance for his work on the title. Players and critics praised his nuanced delivery, emotional range, and chemistry with other companions, making Astarion a standout in discussions about character writing and performance in modern RPGs.
On the big screen Newbon has appeared in a handful of notable films. He voiced Petra Fortis in the English-language dub of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (2016), which featured Aaron Paul and Lena Headey; he contributed to the satirical puppet feature Jackboots on Whitehall (2010), alongside voices from Ewan McGregor and Rosamund Pike; and he appeared in the wartime drama The Last Drop (2005), which included performances by Tom Hardy and James Cosmo.
His live?action television work spans British staples and contemporary dramas, with credits on Hollyoaks, Casualty, The Bill, Holby City, Wycliffe, and the crime series Gangs of London.
Newbon’s voice and performance?capture résumé extends across major franchises: he voiced Elijah Kamski and Gavin Reed in Detroit: Become Human, played Nicholai and Nemesis in Resident Evil 3 (2020) and Karl Heisenberg in Resident Evil Village (2021), and brought Zeon to life in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Some of his most recent roles includes Dracula in Luca Galante’s Vampire Survivors, Albrecht Entrati in the Warframe: 1999 update in the 2024 quest ‘The Hex’, the stalker boss Lumacchio in the Overture DLC for Lies of P, and Chase Lowry in the psychological horror game Dead Take.
