Catherine Tate is an English comedian, actress and writer, well known for a diversity of work in television, film and on the stage - in particular, for her own creation, the award-winning The Catherine Tate Show.
She made her first appearance in Doctor Who as jilted bride, Donna Noble. She then joined the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), as his companion for the entire run of Season 4 in 2008 and for the two-part “End of Time” specials. More recently, she reprised the role of Donna Noble in three Doctor Who audio dramas alongside Tennant.
Catherine Tate has appeared on US television screens as Nellie Bertram in The Office, making her entrance as a guest star at the end of Season 7 and returning as part of the main cast for seasons 8 and 9. In between filming The Office, Catherine returned to the UK to play Beatrice opposite David Tennant's Benedick in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in London's West End. Tate also provided the voice of the villainous sorceress Magica De Spell, in Disney's DuckTales reboot, alongside David Tennant, provides the voice of the show's protagonist, Scrooge McDuck.
In recent years, Tate starred and created the Netflix mockumentary sitcom Hard Cell, playing six of the main characters and developed the BBC sitcom Queen of Oz, where she plays the titular character, a disgraced member of the British royal family sent to rule Australia. She can currently be seen in a recurring role on the Fox sitcom, Going Dutch, alongside Dennis Leary and Danny Pudi.
She has continued to mix theatre, film and television work and, in 2016, took The Catherine Tate Show on a live tour of the UK, playing to 27 cities over 31 nights.
